Our Instructional Method

Based on Business English for Beginners - Lubimtseva. S.N., Tarkovskaya B.M., Pamuhina L.G. Moscow, 1999.

The cornerstone of this method is based on constantly motivating the student. If students spend most of the time staring in a manual, this is of little help with acquiring good conversational skills.  Some of the important concepts in this method are as follows:

  1. Numerous dialogues based on particular topical and current grammar rules.

  2. Performing/learning pronunciation, grammar, etc using speech models (with substitutions which provide talking skills and fluency).

  3. The use of tape-recorded / video segments at every lesson (a must!)

  4. Assignments for the student to record himself (the teacher listens and corrects during non-classroom time then discusses it with the student).

  5. Application of various visual aids: pictures, tables, teaching cards, etc.

  6. The student is constantly motivated to ask questions on the given topic, with suggestions given by the teacher.

Normally, the shortest lesson in a foreign language should last not less than 2 academic hours or 90 minutes  If it is a crash course, it should be 3-4 academic hours.

With additional effort on the part of the student, we can also teach 'accent-less' pronunciation, for those who wish to fine-tune their skills.

Our classes are taught in a friendly, encouraging atmosphere, aimed at lifting the language barrier.
